Clippers find Knight to share point
The Los Angeles Clippers' search for a point guard to share the load with Sam Cassell has apparently landed Brevin Knight.
Knight, who has played for seven teams in a 10-year NBA career, has agreed to a two-year, $4 million contract, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday.
Knight, 31, must pass a physical before the deal can become official.
A 5-foot-10 former Stanford star, Knight has a point guard's mentality. He has averaged 6.8 assists and 8.3 points in his career, with two 20-assist games.
He played for Charlotte last season, averaging 9.1 points and 6.6 assists in 28.3 minutes per game. The previous season he averaged 12.6 points, 8.8 assists (third in the league) and 2.3 steals (second).
With Shaun Livingston sidelined for perhaps the whole season with a knee injury and Sam Cassell 38 years old, the Los Angeles Clippers had taken a shot at Steve Francis (he signed with Houston) and pursued other guards before settling on Knight.
